Omotesenke Domonkai Eastern Region was founded in June, 2010 as a not-for-profit, public benefit, educational organization. As a section 501(c)(3) organization, we are eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions.
As a nonprofit organization, Omotesenke Domonkai Eastern Region relies on generous contributions from individuals like you to support the Omotesenke Chanoyu, Japanese tea ceremony, and wide range of chanoyu-related activities and educational programs we offer year round. We look to our audiences and communities of supporters to help us continue providing high-quality events and activities that educate and inform our visitors on the changing nature of Omotesenke Chanoyu and its beautiful and fascinating culture, casting it in a global context.
Greetings from our President
It was my pleasure to establish The Omotesenke Domonkai Eastern Region, USA.
Our organization, cooperating with the traditional public institutions and educational bodies in the Eastern United States, wishes to deepen its cultural exchange with as many people as possible through Omotesenke Chanoyu.
I welcome your interest in Omotesenke Chanoyu, which shares the spirit of Zen, the beauty of nature, and the hospitality to others.
I would be pleased if the spirit and beauty of Omotesenke Chanoyu, that has been inherited for more than 500 years since its establishment by 15 generations of the “Iemoto” family (the owner of Omotesenke), can help inspire people to respect each other and deepen their mutual understanding.
I look forward to seeing you at one of our events in New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Florida, Seattle, and other locations.

2011
Public Tea Ceremony Demonstrations Began
Domonkai events can take many forms, but public events held by local tea practitioners are of particular importance. These events allow people to interact with and experience Chanoyu, often for the first time.
Annual study sessions held for Domonkai members include events where the general public is invited to partake in a cup of tea made by our practitioners and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Chanoyu.
