This is a report on the activities of the tea ceremony club of the Japanese Weekend School of New Jersey, which was registered as Omotesenke School Tea Ceremony in 2015. During the pandemic, the club was in 2020, 2021, and the beginning of 2022 but resumed activities in May 2022.
In 2022, 33 students registered for the club. Divided into beginner and intermediate classes, participants learned how to perform tea ceremony on a desk. They learned how to make tea and how to handle tools. The students also enjoyed the handmade sweets the class instructor made every time. At the school's annual cultural festival at the end of the school year, we set up a simple tea room and a tea ceremony experience.
2015年度に表千家学校茶道に登録されたNJ補習授業校の茶の湯くらぶのご報告です。パンデミック中の2020、2021、2022の３月まで3年間休部でしたが、2022年５月から再開しました。2022年度は、33名の登録がありました。初級と中級にわけて割り稽古、机の上でそれぞれお点前の手順を学びました。背筋をまっすぐにして、お辞儀の仕方、道具の扱いをしました。毎回講師の手作りのお菓子を毎回楽しみにしてくれました。講師宅の茶室で初釜体験をし、学校恒例行事の年次末の文化祭では、簡易茶室を作って茶会体験と別室ではご両親やお友達に生徒がお茶を点てて振舞いました。
