On the beautiful sunny afternoon of May 19, a public tea ceremony was conducted at Friendship Heights Village Center (FHVC), Maryland. In the US, May is the Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month. As part of the celebration, the DC chapter presented Chanoyu and offered tea to the participants. Also, a special exhibition presented utensils for thick and thin tea and Kabuto for Children's Day on May 5. Participants enjoyed a bowl of tea in a sunny auditorium overlooking the fountain, actively participated, and asked questions about the history of the Sen family and tea and matcha production. The exhibition will last throughout May at the FHVC.
メリーランド州におけるアジア・太平洋諸島月間記念文化行事茶の湯プレゼンテーション
五月晴れの５月１９日の午後、メリーランド州フレンドシップハイツ地域センターで地域住民の方との市民茶会が行われました。米国では、５月はアジア太平洋諸島系移民を祝した文化遺産月間で、記念行事として、DC地区が茶の湯のデモンストレーション・呈茶を行ったほか、茶の湯（濃茶・薄茶）やこどもの日に因んだ兜などの特別展示も行われました。参加された方々は、陽の燦々と降りそそぐアトリウムに設置された茶室スペースで薄茶を楽しまれ、千家や茶の由来、抹茶の製法など多くの質問をされました。展示は５月いっぱい続く予定です。
