Demonstration and Workshop of Omotesenke Style for the Chanoyu Club at Penn State

Event Date: 2/7/2023

Thirteen participants learned how to be guests, and warigeiko was taught more in-depth than last time. While one group learned the manners of drinking tea (such as how and what to say in Japanese before you drink tea), the other group learned how to use fukusa, purify chashaku, and make tea. Everyone had a chance to have tea made by the president of the Chanoyu Club, Matthew Koch, and the teacher, Keiko Kitazawa. Everyone wanted to learn how to drink tea properly, what to say in Japanese, and how to fold fukusa properly. While everyone's main interests differed, we all enjoyed and shared a memorable experience.
