Harvest Moon Tea Gathering at the Seattle Japanese Garden Tearoom “Shoseian”

We were honored to host a Harvest Moon Tea Gathering at the Seattle Japanese Garden’s tearoom, Shoseian, as part of the Garden’s autumn cultural programs. Once the event was announced online, the tea tickets sold out quickly.

The tearoom was decorated with seasonal offerings, moon-viewing dumplings, and autumn grasses, creating an atmosphere inspired by Japan’s traditional moon-viewing culture. As we shared stories about appreciating the moon through drifting clouds, the evening sky cleared, and the moon appeared—a beautiful, memorable moment.

Guests enjoyed Kyoto-style sweets and matcha prepared in the Omotesenke tradition, and many shared kind comments about the tea and the cultural experience.

中秋の名月茶会・シアトル日本庭園 茶室「松声庵」

秋の恒例行事として、シアトル日本庭園の茶室「松声庵」にて中秋の名月茶会を開催しました。庭園ホームページで案内が公開されると、お茶席付き入場券はすぐに完売し、多くの皆さまに関心をお寄せいただきました。

茶室には、すすきやお月見団子、秋の実りを設え、日本の「お月見」の文化をご紹介しました。雲の合間に見え隠れする月を愛でるという日本人の感性についてお話ししていると、ちょうど空が晴れて月が姿を現す印象的な場面もありました。

京風のお月見団子と干菓子、お家元好みの抹茶で、皆さまに秋の一服をお楽しみいただきました。

「抹茶がとても美味しかった」「月のお話が心に残りました」など、温かいご感想をいただき、大変嬉しく思います。
