About 50 members and members of the general public gathered to celebrate the spring at the Hatsugama, at the Kitano Hotel New York, held by the Tobu Chapter for the first time in four years. We invited Mr. Akira Endo, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of Japan in New York. The second guest was Dr. Yoshiro Manabe, a member of Domonkai who won the Nobel Prize in 2021.
At the thick tea seating, guests enjoyed the peace and admired the beautiful utensils in perfectly arranged constricted space. At the thin tea seating, guests were at ease to talk about Otemae, tea utensils, and current situations of Chanoyu. It was fascinating every time a raffle prize winner was called out. All enjoyed tea sweets and Tenshin lunch made by local chefs. The tea seatings and all the aspects of this tea ceremony were successful. We received many thanks and good reviews from our guests.

4年ぶりにザ・ キタノ ホテル ニュー ヨークで開催された、東部支部による初釜は、会員、一般市民約50名が集って春を祝った。 一席目には、在NY日本国総領事館より遠藤彰首席領事が正客をお務めいただき、次客に同会員で2021年にノーベル賞受賞された真鍋淑郎博士が同席された。
濃茶席では小間での静寂、貴重なお道具の鑑賞を楽しみ、薄茶席では和気あいあいとお道具、茶の湯の近況について歓談し、福引では大いに盛り上がった。 主菓子、点心共にローカルの職人/シェフによるものを振る舞った。帰途に着かれる際、会員やお茶人からは感謝と労いのお言葉を頂き、一般のお客様からはとても楽しかったと好評だった。
