Public Tea Ceremony at the National Press Club in Washington, DC

In August, we held a training session and a Public Tea Ceremony at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. We welcomed Kimura Masaki, a Tea Master from Kyoto, and received comprehensive instruction. Although this year was midsummer, we were able to attend a full-scale lecture using charcoal from the furnace, making it a very educational workshop.   

At the Public Tea Ceremony, many people participated; those in the chairs and those seated on tatami mats were all captivated by the tea master's performance. There was also a lively Q&A, which made the tea ceremony even more engaging.

表千家同門会米国東部支部講習会と市民茶会を８月に開催いたしました。京都より木村宗匠をお迎えして、充実した内容のご指導を頂きました。今年は真夏の時期でしたが、炉の炭を使いまして、本格的な講義を受けることが出来、学びの多い講習会となりました。

市民茶会では、多くの方にご参加頂き、いす席の方、畳上に座られた方、皆さんが宗匠のお点前に見入っておられました。又、活発な質疑応答も行われ、茶道により興味を持って頂くことが出来たと感じました。
