Seattle Special District – Hatsugama (New Year Tea Gathering)

The Seattle Special District hosted a Hatsugama (New Year Tea Gathering) with invited guests.

We were honored by the presence of Ms. Yoko Tsuge, Deputy Consul General of Japan in Seattle; Mr. Ryo Koyama, Residence Chef of the Consulate General; Ms. Yuka Shimizu, President of the Seattle Tankokai; Ms. Luke Ayumi of the Mukai Farm & Garden Foundation; Ms. Eriko Baxter, who actively supports various Japan-related nonprofit organizations; and many others who continually support the sharing of Japanese culture through chanoyu.

Honoring the spirit of hospitality passed down through generations, guests experienced the seasonal setting, enjoyed a handmade meal, and a bowl of tea prepared in the Omotesenke tradition.

This gathering offered a meaningful start to the year, reminding us of the value of each connection.We will continue to cherish every encounter, guided by the spirit of ichiza-konryu.

シアトル特別地区では、ご招待客をお迎えし、初釜を開催いたしました。

在シアトル日本国総領事館 首席領事・津下陽子様、同公邸料理長・小山諒様、シアトル淡交会 プレジデント・清水楡華様、ムカイファーム＆ガーデン運営財団理事代表 Luke あゆみ様、そして様々な日本関係のNPO活動にご尽力されているバクスター恵里子様ほか、日頃より茶の湯を通した日本文化の発信と地域交流にご理解とご支援を賜っている皆様にご臨席いただきました。

初釜に受け継がれてきたおもてなしの心を大切に、しつらえと共に新春の趣を感じていただき、手づくりの点心の後、表千家流による一服をお楽しみいただきました。

新春のひとときを共にし、あらためてご縁の尊さを深く感じる一日となりました。本年も「一座建立」の心を大切に、歩みを重ねてまいります。
