City of Bellevue School district Middle school 8th grade Japanese language class students joined us for Chanoyu at The Seattle Japanese Garden. We explained Chanoyu's history and gave demonstrations to two groups. The students also researched about Chanoyu themselves in advance. Many students commented that our presentation helped make everything that read about feel real to them. As expected, words alone cannot convey the full experience of Chanoyu in the tearoom.
「シアトル日本庭園茶室にて中学生の茶の湯体験授業」を開催
ワシントン州ベルビュー市立の日本語クラスの８年生の学生向けに、日本文化教育の一環として「茶の湯体験」のご依頼をいただき、シアトル日本庭園のお茶室にて、茶の湯プレゼンテーションを実施いたしました。
事前に茶の湯のことを調べていた生徒たちは、オンラインや本などで調べた事を実際に見ることができて、読んでいたことが、目の前でビジュアル化されて、たいへんよかったという感想をいただきました。やはりお茶室での体験が何より大事なことだと実感しました。
