Open House Practice for the New Students - University of Washington Chanoyu Club

At the beginning of the new academic year in late September, the University of Washington held its annual Open House for new students. Now in its sixth year, the UW Chanoyu Club hosted an open tea practice in a campus classroom, welcoming about 25 students who gathered to observe. Senior club members demonstrated a tea gathering with commentary, followed by a tea service for the participants.

During the Q&A session, students shared how practicing Chanoyu enriches both mind and spirit and offers a joyful way to learn about Japanese culture. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for many new students to discover the club, and we look forward to welcoming new members in the coming term.

ワシントン大学（UW）茶の湯クラブ新入生オープンハウスで公開稽古を実施

9月末に新年度が始まったワシントン大学（UW）では、新入学生向けオープンハウスを開催し、創部6年目のUW茶の湯クラブは学内の教室で公開稽古を行いました。２５名ほどの学生が集まり、先輩学生が亭主と客に分かれて解説付きでお点前を披露し、その後、参加者の皆さんにお茶を楽しんでいただきました。

質疑応答では、先輩たちが「茶の湯は心身を豊かにする学び」「伝統文化を楽しく体験できる場」であることを伝え、多くの学生が興味を寄せてくれました。今回の公開稽古を通して、新しい仲間との出会いに期待がふくらむ良い機会となりました。
