The Place 229, an elegant townhouse on the Upper East Side, is owned by a private salon run by Omotesenke Domonkai Eastern Region, USA Branch President Ryuji Ueno. The Eastern Branch began renting this space in 2013 and since that time, has continued to hold tea ceremonies and remain open for many Eastern Region members and neighbors as a place to relax in the heart of the city.
Over the past three years, because of the Corona virus disaster, everything had to be canceled. We are happy that the tea ceremony has resumed after a long time but we also feel some tension.
Upper East Sideに建つ瀟洒なタウンハウス「The Place 229」は上野隆司支部長が運営されるプライベートサロンです。 このスペースを東部支部では2013年より借用を開始し、多くの会員、近隣の皆様に都心での心の憩いの場として頂くべく開放、茶会の催しを続けて参りました。
この度は、3年に亘りコロナ禍の影響で中止を余儀なくされておりましたが、久々の茶会再開に嬉しくもあり緊張に身が引き締まっております。
過去の茶会でも子供の為のお茶、等々、茶道の意義を感じる取り組みをしてきました。
今回は、いにしえに戻り、禅という修行に端を発した茶道の奥深さを感じて頂く茶会を試みたいと計画致しました。
