The University of Washington Chanoyu Club holds regular tea ceremony practice on Friday evenings. Three times a month they conduct practice using classrooms on campus, and once a month practice is held at a private tea room. This was the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic two years ago that the club has been able to use the "Shosei-an" tea room at the Seattle Japanese Garden.
After changing into their kimono and entering nervously into theta room though the roji the students put everything they have learned in the classroom to use inside the tea room. Despite being in an unfamiliar environment, everyone enjoyed themselves and reveled in their accomplishments together.
ワシントン大学茶の湯クラブがシアトル日本庭園・茶室”松声庵”で初稽古
ワシントン大学茶の湯クラブでは、大学校内の教室を使用した毎週金曜日夕方の定期的な稽古を月３回と、個人茶室での茶の湯稽古を毎月１回行なっています。コロナ禍から２年を経過して、シアトル日本庭園・茶室”松声庵”の利用が再開されたことから、今回初めて、庭園の茶室を使った稽古を行いました。
着物に着替えて、露地を通って、緊張しながらも茶室に入り、これまで教室で続けてきた稽古を茶室にて行いました。いつもとは異なる環境でしたが、お互いのそれぞれの成果を、楽しみながら確認しあっていました。
