The 1st Year End Mochi Pounding & Tea Gathering was held in Seattle by The Omotesenke Domonkai Eastern Region Seattle Special District. We offered mochi pounding experience, making mochi with red bean paste, warm red bean soup with mochi, and snacks to about 100 people. Our intent was to provide a family oriented, fun, yet Japanese cultural end of the year event. Guests made their own matcha green tea at the table and it was extremely popular with adults and children. We served authentic Japanese sweets from Kyoto. We hope for this to become an annual event. Everyone had a wonderful time.
