シアトル日本庭園を市と共に運営するArboritum Foundation により、昨年秋より開催されています「カレイドスコープ・シリーズ」というオンライン公開講演会に登壇のご依頼を頂きました。
このシリーズは今回が５回目にあたり、過去に生花、墨絵、舞踏、紅葉の剪定、といったテーマで講演会が開催されています。
司会者から、まず登壇者として過去５年間の月釜を中心にした茶の湯活動のご紹介をいただき、続いて、昨年紅葉の時期に撮影を行い、編集に協力をしましたお茶室での点前の動画をご覧いただきました。
最後にセミナー司会者を通じて、一般の参加者の方からの質疑にお答えしました。当日動画の配信に不手際が少々あったものの、Arboritum Foundationの役員会では、今回の茶の湯が過去のどのシリーズよりも一番反響が多かったとご報告があったそうでした。 なお、セミナー開催前日には、シアトルローカル局のKing ５ Evening Newsでもこのセミナーの予告を放映していただきました。
Kaleidoscope is a series of free virtual events to the public designed to offer educational content on Japanese gardens and Japanese culture during the COVID-19 pandemic, when access to the physical garden is limited and the usual calendar of interactive cultural events has been cancelled. The fifth webinar was Chanoyu, The Way of Tea by Omotesenke Domonkai Eastern Region Seattle district, in which we explained the basics of tea gathering step by step, the history of Chanoyu, our mission, and held a live Q&A session.
The tea gathering in the tearoom was recorded on a beautiful autumn day in 2020.
