Tea Ceremony Club

In the second half of 2025, the Tea Ceremony Club enjoyed both regular practice and hands-on activities. Some members joined a summer camp and experienced temae on tatami mats, discovering a new and refreshing side of the tea ceremony.

We also held a collaborative event with the Origami Club. Using higashi (dry sweets) shaped like a ninja star (shuriken)—specially ordered from Shigaraki, a region associated with the Kōga ninja—we enjoyed a tea gathering together. Along with practicing standard fukusa folding, students also tried an expressive variation inspired by goldfish. Afterwards, participants folded origami shuriken matching the sweets, allowing them to engage with the spirit of tea through seeing, touching, and making, and to encounter the heart of chanoyu naturally.

In addition, a calligraphy and painting workshop was held. Students were introduced to the idea that the tea ceremony is not only about preparing tea but is also supported by many cultural elements, including calligraphy seen in hanging scrolls and in tea gathering records. After revisiting the concept of the “front” of a tea bowl, students decorated Paper tea bowls with their favorite kanji characters or freehand drawings. By being aware of not wanting to place their mouth on their own artwork, students naturally reflected on the feelings of both the guest and the maker of the vessel.

Through these experiences, students appeared to revisit and deepen their understanding of the manners and ways of thinking they practice daily. Moving forward, we hope to continue cherishing opportunities—through both regular practice and special events—for students to encounter and appreciate the heart of the tea ceremony.

茶道部 活動

2025年後半も、茶道部は日々のお稽古に加え、さまざまな体験を通して活動を行いました。夏休み中には、有志の部員が集まり、茶道部サマーキャンプを実施しました。普段のテーブル茶道とは少し雰囲気を変え、畳でのお点前にも取り組み、いつもとは違う環境の中で新たな学びを楽しむ様子が見られました。

また、折り紙クラブとのコラボレーション企画では、甲賀忍者ゆかりの地・信楽から取り寄せた忍者手裏剣をかたどったお干菓子を用い、茶の湯体験を行いました。帛紗さばきでは、基本の所作に加え、金魚をイメージした表現にも挑戦し、その後はお干菓子と同じ手裏剣を折り紙で制作しました。見て、触れて、作ることで、茶の湯の心に自然と触れる時間となりました。

書道・絵付け体験では、茶道が点前だけでなく、掛け軸やお茶会の会記など、書を含めたさまざまな文化と結びついていることを紹介しました。お茶碗には「正面」があることを改めて確かめた上で、紙製ボウルに好きな漢字や自由な絵を描き、自分が描いた絵に口をつけることへの気づきを通して、客としての心遣いや、器を作る人への思いに自然と目が向く体験となりました。

こうした活動を通して、生徒たちは普段のお稽古で身につけている所作や考え方を、体験を通して改めて味わっているように感じられます。これからも、日々のお稽古と行事を重ねながら、茶の湯の心に触れる機会を大切にしていきたいと思います。
